Independent civic information

CaryWatch is an independent, civic-information website devoted to matters affecting the Town of Cary, its residents, and its local government.

Our purpose is to gather, organize, explain, analyze, and publish information about Cary government, public spending, taxation, development, conservation, public policy, and the conduct of elected and appointed officials. We also publish commentary, criticism, analysis, and opinions concerning actions taken by elected officials, candidates for public office, Town of Cary staff, and others involved in matters of public concern.

CaryWatch does not exist for the purpose of electing or defeating candidates for public office. It does not make contributions to candidates or candidate committees, nor does it solicit or collect money for candidates, coordinate its activities with candidates or campaigns, or operate at the direction of any candidate, political party, or political campaign. We don't have p-cards, car and phone allowances, and we don't travel to expensive locales and dine luxuriously on anybody else's dime.

CaryWatch's editorial decisions are made independently. Coverage of an elected official or candidate may be favorable, unfavorable, or mixed, depending upon the facts and issues involved.

The website's ordinary expenses are incurred for the operation of an independent civic-information publication, including such things as website hosting and domain registration. These expenses are trivial.

Our goal is simple: to provide our fellow Cary residents with information about our local government and those who seek or hold public office, and to encourage informed and principled public discussion on matters affecting our community.
